Presidents Report & Executive Board Motions:
FSG has rewritten their attendance policy, copies of which were available for review. After discussion, it was approved on a Motion Janaszak, 2nd Marron that the policy be approved provided that the last paragraph ("Communication by Supervisor: In cases in which the employees supervisor has reasonable cause to believe an abuse of sick leave is occurring or when proper notification has not been given, an employee may be called by telephone and/or visited personally by supervisory personnel") be struck from the policy. MC
Motion Strottmann 2nd Mel Cannon to approve the eboard motion to buy three five pound fire extingushers, a proper extenstion cord and batteries for the emergency egress lights. These items necessary for fire compliance. MC
Discussion of a grievance regarding Comp. Time. Discussion of recent per capita assessement of $0.65 by Council 61 and AFSCME international dues.
Motion Strottmann 2nd Boudreau, That President Alcock appoint a committee to examine our local dues structure and report back at the next membership meeting. MC Changing dues requires a change to the local 12 constitution. Dues Committee (contact Mel Cannon)
Motion Janaszak 2nd Strottmann to to initiate a constitutional change to elect local officers in a month that "will not conflict with negotiations or general elections" and any other constitutional changes deemed necessary by a committee which will report back at the next membership meeting (02/01/01) MC Constitutional Review Committee (contact Tom Jacobs)
Sign-up sheet passed around for volunteers to serve on the two new committees.
Announcements
Clerical Action Team will meet Jan 17th at 5:30 pm at local 12 offices.
Presentation of afscme watch to long time activist, now retiree Frank Person.
Treasurers Report:
Motion Marron 2nd Daly to accept treasurers report as filed.MC Copies were distributed and are on file at the office.
Motion Daly 2nd Janaszak to remind membership that purchase of new monitor for computer in the office has been authorized. MC
Motion Huber 2nd Cannon to reimburse treasurer Huber for purchase of a mouse and other computer supplies ($24.13) MC
Notice of Elections
Nominations were taken for the offices of University Vice-President at Large and Vice President of Resident Services. The election will be held on Thursday febuary 1st. Polling places will be set up from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. at the IMU and UIHC. A polling place will be set up at the office (1212 Highland Court, Iowa City) from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.

Staff Report
Todd reports an interest in employee/employer privacy issues in the legislature. Anyone who has had a problem with privacy issues w/employers is urged to contact Todd at the office. Todd reports meeting with affected ITS workers regarding lay-offs.
Motion Schutt 2nd Janaszak that the local organize a workshop on ergonomics in cooperation with Council 61 MC
Motion Donnelly 2nd Janaszak that local 12 co-sponsor a speak-out event on Jan 20th regarding presidental election results MC
Motion Rach 2nd Donnelly that local 12 endorse a rally to be held on the pentacrest on Jan 20th at noon, regarding Bush inauguration. MC
