Council sent a letter notifying us they are raising our percapita assessment by 65c. We will need to send a letter to payroll instructing a payroll deduction increase of that amount in order to maintain our present level of income per member.
A fire inspection revealed some violations that must be corrected by January 12,2001 to avoid fines. The board passed motions made by Barb Cannon and seconded by Cart Boudreau to make the following purchases to take care of the violations: 3 5-lb. fire extinguishers, a power strip, and 2 batteries for the emergency egress lights.
Questions regarding a $600 copier bill prompted a call to Treasurer Bob Huber. He paid the bill because no replacement could be found that would meet our needs at that price. Further conversation with the treasurer revealed that the monitor for the treasurer's computer not longer works and needs to be replaced. Motion Mel second Carl to purchase the monitor.
Discussion of FSG1s new attendance and sick leave policies. Copies available.
Carl presented for discussion some ideas to address the image of unions in general and Local 12 in particular. For instance, we could sponsor programming on local stations such as KXIC and WSUI. We might also be able to take advantage of the University's mass mailing list/s. He was advised to put his ideas in writing and present them to the Council as an organizing tool to see if Council would help fund them.
Announcement: The next clerical Action Team meeting will be Wednesday January 17,2001 at 5:30 at the Local 12 hall.
Meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
