Central Electronics SSB Accessories

The CE 458 VFO is a modified BC-458 cleverly contained in a CE cabinet which matches the 10A, 10B and 20A SSB exciters. It came in kit and finished form.
The MM-2 Modulation Monitor is a nifty little scope. The cabinet matches the 100V cabinet.
The Model B Sideband Slicer is an interesting piece of equipment. It can be used with most any 455 kHz IF receiver to accomplish SSB filtering and detection in a manner analogous to that of the CE transmitters, which is to say, by using the phasing method. The Model B contains a Q-multiplier. The Sideband Slicer is in the same cabinet as the CE 458 VFO. (Note: The Model A was similar except without a Q-multiplier.)
Below: Commonly, rather than buy the CE 458 VFO, hams simply modified ARC-5 transmitters themselves. Some used a few Central Electronics parts from a conversion kit (as at right below). Others did the conversion without benefit of Central Electronics parts (as at left below).
