Eldico T-102 Transmitter

The T-102 design was largely dictated by the military which wanted an alternative source other than Collins for SSB gear. The T-102 uses almost the same frequency conversion scheme as the S-Line, a 200 kHz VFO (PTO) span with 1 kHz markers and variable inductive tuning in the low-level RF circuits. These units were developed under government contract and sold to the government. Eldico did briefly advertise them commercially but Collins' legal actions stopped Eldico from marketing the SSB system. An indication of the limited production is suggested by the serial numbers of the three units I have. The transmitter shown is S/N 26, a parts transmitter is S/N 18 and the receiver (shown elsewhere) is S/N 27.
I was told when I bought my Eldico pair that these had been in MARS service for years. All three sport repainted cabinets and show extensive wear.
The VFO knobs shown in the photos are not original. Of my three units there's only one original Eldico VFO knob. (Anybody got a spare Eldico VFO knob they'd be interested in trading?)
A look under the hood of the T-102 reveals similarity with the S-Line design.
