Heathkit SB-401

This SB-401 is the mate to my SB-300.  One of the features I've enjoyed about it is its "spinner" knob.  This little enhancement sure makes bringing the transmitter up on frequency easy, even if it has to be cranked from one end of the band to the other.  Too bad Heath didn't offer the spinner knob.

Below:  an inside look at the SB-401.  Note the full complement of heterodyne crystals in lower left.  These crystals came from Canada just before Christmas and, as I write this, I haven't even had the SB-401 on the air with them yet.  Now, perhaps for the first time since this transmitter was built, it has the capability to operate as an independent transmitter rather than being slaved to the SB-300.
